By contacting Prins van Oranje Yacht Brokerage, the first step in the sales process has been taken. Our brokers will be happy to inform you about all the possibilities for your yacht.
During an initial consultation, by phone or email, we'll discuss the possibilities for your yacht. During this conversation the asking price of the boat will be determined. The asking price depends on several factors. Based on photos and the specifications of the yacht, the sales price can usually be accurately estimated. Our standard sales commission is 6% (excluding VAT) of the final sales price. In advance you will be informed by the brokers about the estimated net proceeds. In case of an agreement you can bring your boat to our location in Heeg in Friesland, Prins van Oranje will pick up your boat or we will sell your boat on location.
Once we’ve agreed to sell your yacht, we gather all necessary details and specifications. During the sales period your yacht will be kept clean and well-presented by us. Think of neatly folded covers, straightened cushions, and tasteful styling with details like a bottle of wine, glasses, magazines, or towels. We also provide photos and an interior video. All content is added to our system to launch your yacht across our sales channels.
We implement a proactive, international sales strategy. We ensure optimal presentation on our own website and on external internet sites (over 42 websites worldwide). We also attend boat shows, advertise in water sports related magazines, inform our customers through newsletters and advertise on social media. In addition, we actively approach potential customers through our network.
When a potential buyer makes an offer, we take care of the negotiations in consultation with you. Our goal is to get you the best price for your yacht. We always keep the price agreements and room for negotiation in mind.
The agreed arrangements are then recorded in a sales agreement. This ensures that the further course of events is clear for all parties involved.
Every agreement is subject to a sea trial, during which one of our brokers is always present.
If the buyer chooses to have the boat inspected, which we usually advise, the buyers are free to appoint a surveyor of their choice. Prins van Oranje assists the buyer and the surveyor during the survey and the corresponding sea trial. In addition, we take care of arranging the crane and other desired preparations. (Filling water tanks, drying underwater ship, etc.)
Depending on the outcomes of the survey, new agreements may be made regarding any major defects. Our in-house yacht service department can carry out the necessary repairs.
These agreements are documented in the deed of transfer, which ensures the seller is indemnified against future claims. We then finalise the financial and legal transaction.
In consultation with the buyer, after remedying any substantial defects, a date is agreed for delivery of the boat. Prins van Oranje ensures that the boat is delivered clean and ready to go. There will also be an explanation for a safe first trip.
